VOLKSWAGEN POLO GT TSI REVIEW

POLO GT TSI

So here is a review on the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI, cruised 36k kms. What has changed from its elder sibling that differentiates your GT TSI is a glittering 'GT' badge on the front grill besides the VW logo, 'GT TSI' strip on the rear quarter panel and blackened side view mirrors and rear spoilers that give it a sporty look. So, lets see about the power packed volkswagen in details.

EXTERIOR

Nothing has changed much about the exteriors except for that mentioned above. A 'GT' badge on the front grill, a chrome lining running across the lower grill neatly underlining the fog lamps, slightly smoked headlamps, blackened mirrors and rear spoilers. At the rear end VW has done away with its Volkswagen Polo badging and you see GT TSI badging. You get a decent ground clearance of 268mm. Right on the ends of the front grill sit two projector lamps. Overall, this Polo has a simple yet elegant exterior and a sporty hatch to say it all.

INTERIORS

The Polo gets a black toned interior with neatly designed dashboard. Step into its cabin and the bucket seats hug you and you are welcomed by the theatre lightings at the legspace. Chrome touch at the AC vents, infotainment and the flat bottomed steering wheel give a premium touch to this car. Between the two front seats sits the 7-speed auto DSG gearbox along with the cup holders and ample of storage spaces. The integrated infotainment system is laid neatly in the center of the dashboard right above which lay the toggle lamp indicators, ESP on/off button and rear de-fogger button. You get  a auto climate control ( I am really fascinated the Polo's cooling).  The flat bottomed steering wheel feels really sporty ( I literally mean it) and the audio controls mounted on it are useful and have a voice command toggle button too. The aluminium pedals add to the cosmetic and sporty look to the Volkswagen.

SAFETY

The polo gets dual airbags, Electronic stability program, Anti-lock braking system, Electronic braking distribution system and hill hold control.

RIDE AND HANDLING

Now comes the most interesting topic to write on. This can literally be the only reason you choose for the GT TSI. Rev the 103BHP TSI engine and the car comes to life, press the brake pedal and switch the to 'Drive' mode(D). You cannot get your hands off the leather wrapped steering wheel. Accelerate your car and you get to know what really hides under the hood and what a TSI engine can do. It pushes you back to your seat as it accelerates but at the same time ensures you have full command on your car. Want some more thrill and sporty feeling? Switch to Sports mode, RPM shoots up as the turbocharged engine roars to its full strength. Drive mode ensures your Polo is a decent chap obeying its master's orders. Switch to the sports mode and you see the beast hiding inside your car. Overall, its a joy to drive the GT TSI, its comfort, its handling and the command it offers to its 'masters' ensure that you are addicted to the power packed hatch!

SUMMARY

The Polo certainly stands apart from other hatches in its range. The Volkswagen logo ensures that you get optimum quality from he German automaker. The GT TSI badge makes sure you get power packed luxury. DSG gearbox ensures you get a comfortable drive in the drive mode and the sports mode ensures you can turn the beast mode of your hatch on anytime you need.

The cons in the Volkswagen include its too small rear legroom space. Your legs literally get paralyzed during long distance journeys sitting in the rear. And if you are a six feeter, think twice before taking the car. The sitting is too low and those used to heavier SUVs will surely find it disgusting to drive the low sitting hatch. It isn't a feature packed car to choose. Its counterparts like the Hyudai i20 and the Honda Jazz offer far more features at lower cost. The DSG gearbox is a headache to rely upon. Shifting from 3rd to 2nd gear always gives a jerk and sometimes its a prominent one.

Overall, if you love a comfortable ride in which you can choose between comfort mode and turn on the beast mode as and when required. then surely the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI is your cup of tea.
But if you an off-roading addict and a SUV lover and yes a six feeter, then you have to give a second thought.

Thank you!
